Laying Low in Indo
Let’s face it. The US government is out of control.
There’s really no good place to start qualifying this statement. Multiple wars. Imprisoning non-violent “offenders”. Undecipherable tax code. Adding just about any word in front of “terrorist” to justify use of the Patriot Act.
Fortunately, it can’t go on like this forever. Slowly but surely, a nation of sleepers is waking to find that, like many nations learned before, imperialism is unsustainable.
The bad news is that as the country edges closer to ruin, its laws, enforcement tactics and punishment for offenders gets more and more preposterous. Making a batch of pot brownies could now get you life in prison. What’s next? Death penalty for parking violations?
If you’re involved in any number of questionable activities – like trading bitcoin, growing medical marijuana, selling raw milk, or countless other activities that aren’t illegal but could still land you in prison – you may be evaluating your fight or flight options. Do you hang around and wait for an indictment or asset seizure, hoping for the justice system to set the record straight? Or do you take off and hide in a hole in some god-forsaken part of the world?
The US has invested a fortune in convincing you to stick around. Mainstream media – the government’s propaganda agents – would have you believe that everywhere else in the world is dirty, dangerous, disease-ridden. So far, it seems as if most people believe this – after all, less than a third of Americans don’t have a valid passport, required for travel now to any place outside the USA and its territories.
And don’t bothering mentioning to any of your fellow patriots that you’re considering international asset diversification or residency. Most will quickly shame you for being un-American and un-Patriotic, since you’re un-willing to be a martyr for your particular cause.
Whether anyone likes it or not, change is coming to the western world. Chances are good that, sooner or later, the dollar will no longer be the world’s reserve currency, soldiers will be unwilling to die to protect corporate interests, and the ruling class will find themselves woefully unprepared to deal with mass rioting, starvation and social unrest.
So why not watch it all unfold from your Indonesian ocean-front condo?
America is collapsing. Empires have fallen in the past, and nations will fall again in the future. The only difference between now and then is that, this time, it’s your country that’s collapsing, and you’re living it, not reading about it in a textbook. Once you disconnect emotionally from the situation – and evaluate what’s happening as a disinterested observer – accepting the fate of the country will be much easier and you’ll be able to act more rationally. And the best place to digest all this is by the pool at your non-extradition tropical home.
Whether you’re a bitcoin-trading “financial domestic terrorist” yet to be harassed by the IRS over new tax rules or simply want to take a break from your debt-based life and completely end your support for a violent regime that spreads democracy one drone-strike at a time, Indonesia should be on your short-list for consideration.
Nestled at the very center of southeast Asia’s exciting economic boom, the Indonesian island of Batam is a 35-minute ferry ride from Singapore, the richest city on earth. But despite its ideal location, Batam is also one of the least expensive locations in the developed world to find property. Ocean-front condos typically sell for less than $100k USD, and properties can be purchased using Bitcoin – allowing you to stay complete anonymous through your offshore holding company for the transaction.
Batam is a great place to lay low, save money and de-stress while you let whatever storm brewing in your life blow over. And who knows…between sunbathing episodes and massages you may even find time to plan your next adventure.
