Money Show of the Southwest

The George R. Brown Convention Center will be the site for a huge coin show this weekend as an estimated 200 dealers, coin shops, collectors and the American Open Currency Standard converge for the 55th Annual Money Show of the Southwest in Houston, Texas.

Hosted by the Greater Houston Coin Club the event promises to be one of the largest of it’s kind in the country again this year. A number of speakers are scheduled to educate guests on numismatics (the study or collection of coins, tokens, and paper money and sometimes related objects such as medals) while collectors hunt for treasures to add to their holdings and local dealers stock up for the holiday rush.

The event will be open this Thursday (1pm-6pm), Friday (9am-5pm) and Saturday (9am-5pm) December 1-3, 2011. Admission is only $3.00 and children under 17 get in free.
