Crow Nation Launches “Scouts”

In March 2013, the Apsáalooke (Crow) Tribe sat down with Open Currency and began the process of creating the Apsáalooke currency.

On August 16, 2013 the great Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation took the first step toward greater economic sovereignty when they officially launched their currency at the 95th anniversary of their annual Crow Fair Celebration.

Tribal Chairman, Darrin Old Coyote, delivered the announcement with Director of the Tribal LLC Office, Ceivert LaForge, and AOCS Currency Director Eddie Allen.

The tribe decided to first create a commemorative medallion to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn and that the proceeds from that project would be used to expand their currency plans.

Ceivert LaForge disclosed to the media the tribe plans to follow this launch with the opening of a new commodity bank.
