The American Open Currency Standard
It’s the ultimate fantasy career: to lay by the pool all day, sipping Mai-tai’s, doing anything (or nothing) and earning a profit at the same time. For most people, it’s just a dream.
But for scores of AOCS Currency Issuing partners, it’s reality.
When the AOCS came together, it was apparent from the very beginning that if we were to get anyone to take long-term interest in our project, we were going to have to find a way to create VALUE for our supporters. After all, there are plenty of groups sending emails each day asking for your time, your vote, or even worse: your money. Usually, they offer little or nothing tangible in return. So, it was decided from the earliest days that in order to survive, the AOCS would need to develop a way for our partners to get more than just a pat on the back for their contribution.
One of the great value propositions of the AOCS is realized by those who endeavor to create their own medallion. If you ever explore the idea on your own, you’ll quickly discover the complexity and expense associated with designing, die cutting, acquiring metals and minting your own medallion. If that’s not enough to dissuade you from getting started, you’ll come across gigantic minting minimums and jaw-dropping “per unit” minting costs to deal with. The AOCS takes the headache out of this process on two levels: our team of experts holds your hand through the entire process, teaming you up with the right professionals at the right time; and when it’s time to mint, you’ll take advantage of our bulk contract rates and lucrative production terms.
Leveraging our extensive resources to save time and money isn’t even the best part. In fact, it’s really just the beginning. Once your new medallion is struck in fine silver, gold or copper, the long-term value kicks in.
There are a lot of great ideas out there for new medallions. While we’ve played an active role in helping bring together community currencies, political candidate tokens, issue advocacy collectibles, there are countless ideas yet to be emblazoned in metal. And quite often, these new medallions appeal to the virtually endless global audience of investors, collectors and consumers alike.
That’s where the AOCS Currency Issuer license program comes in.
Once your idea is formulated, dies are cut and we’re ready to mint, the AOCS invites you to license your medallion to our network of Authorized Dealers. License fees vary by metal and license holder, but usually follow similar patterns:
Silver: $1 per ounce
Gold: $10 per ounce
Copper: $0.10 per ounce
Licensing your medallion is optional. If you choose to retain exclusive access to your dies, that’s your right and is perfectly fine. However, if you want to expand the reach of your design through our global networks, establish a license fee. Then, kick back, relax, and collect royalties while you sleep!
Play an active role and earn even more!
Sure…once your medallion is ready you can let the license fee program do the work for you. It’s important to note, however, that the Currency Issuers who do the most coincidentally make the most profit. Playing an active role in the marketing and promotion of your new medallion will help get even more into circulation. Here are a few simple (and inexpensive) ways to gain exposure:
- start a Facebook page and post updates on what you do with your new medallion
- launch a simple website to showcase your medallion and why you made it
- start a store on eBay to sell them online
- post news and updates about your medallion on other blogs and web pages
- show off your new medallions at trade shows, events and other inexpensive venues (let us know where you’ll be and we’ll post it to our calendar)
- contact coin dealers and invite them to purchase your medallions wholesale
The best way to get started
Another benefit of partnering with the AOCS is tapping in to our knowledge of what works (and what doesn’t), which we’ve gained through years of trial (and a bit of error, too!). For example, at the time of this writing, we know that Copper is BY FAR the best-selling metal at the moment. It’s affordable, dies are less expensive, and the final product yields a handsome profit in the retail marketplace. Contact us today for a basic approximation of the costs to get your new medallion.
Here’s the catch
If you thought the Currency Issuer license fee program was too good to be true, you’re wrong. But there is one catch: we don’t cut any commission or royalty checks. Due to our continued distaste of government and their henchmen, we don’t mess around with 1099′s or other tax reporting instruments. Instead, all royalties are collected, stored, and made available to you as “store credit”, spendable on any product or service. You can use license fee credit on your next set of dies, web design, or even apply it towards your next order of AOCS Copper, Silver or Gold. The AOCS license fee program is simple, effective and reduces the number of times “cash” changes hands. The program has created value for scores of partners for years, and it’s ready to go to work for you.
